Electron-Photon interaction in lattice configurations

The current planning for 6G communications needs a semiconductor device able to provide a greatly improved SNR, to realise the sixth-generation (6G) mobile service somewhere before 2030.

Background of the Transistor #TRANSISTOR

The invention of the first transistor (semiconductor device) in 1948, at the Bell Labs in the USA, started the electronic revolution in our personal and business lives. This was a device capable of amplifying electronic signals, or able to act as a switch in digital systems. This technology has been highly invasive, and has led to the development of the mobile phone, computer, Satellite Navigation, scientific and medical instrumentation, communications, and in-car electronics. This has made our lives safer, more controllable and convenient while constantly on the move in our busy lives. The economy of most technological countries depend on this industry to control manufacturing processes, and increase its exports. The industry has grown dramatically, 463.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2016, and is forecast to be 831.5 billion U.S dollars by 2024.

Condensed Matter Physics
Being a branch of Physics known as Condensed Matter Physics, which is the study of the properties, of solid-state materials, including their electronic properties. This technology is highly predictable, and through computer simulation, its electronic behaviour can be accurately predicted through detailed computer modelling. The 3-D simulations, at atomic level, can now be used to create new nano-devices with which to address new products and application problems.

The transistor which was invented in 1948, led to the Integrated Circuit ( IC ) used to create the computers, which run the software simulations and computer tools, which allow this new research and development of new devices.
